Scrolls are different from rolls in that scrolls are open there is not any glue to attach the ends of the rolls together.

By changing the lengths of the strait part of the scroll you can create many fun scrolls to add to your own designs.

General Rolling Directions

Dampen your thumb and index finger slightly and place the tip of your paper in your finger, then place the tool that you are going to roll with over it.

With your thumb bend the tip of the paper over the tool at the same time roll the paper forward making sure you are rolling the paper around the needle.

Roll evenly the entire strip of paper, keeping the edges as even as possible and your pressure even on the paper.

After it is completely rolled remove it from the tool.

Let the paper unroll slightly, (for any rolls and scrolls except the tight roll).

Place a drop of glue at the tip of the inner surface to seal it into place.

Hold the roll shut for a couple seconds to assure that it closes.

 Follow pinching instructions below.

loose scroll

Loose Scroll sometimes called relaxed or open scroll – this is rolled just like the loose roll only you don’t glue the end to the roll. Top

c-scroll

C-Scroll (sometimes called double scroll or eye glasses) - roll strip half way from one end let it unroll then roll from the other end so that both rolls end up on the same side. This scroll can be varied by making one end tighter than the other, making one end larger than the other, varying the length of paper rolled at each end, varying the distance between rolls, and so on. Experiment and see if you can find a new and interesting variation on this basic scroll. Top

s-scroll

S-Scroll - roll strip half way from one end let unroll then roll from the other end so that the rolls end up on opposite sides of the scroll. This scroll can be varied by making one end tighter than the other, making one end larger than the other, varying the length of paper rolled at each end, varying the distance between rolls, and so on. Experiment and see if you can find a new and interesting variation on this basic scroll. Top

v-scroll

V-Scroll – fold a strip of paper in half, roll each end down with the roll going out or away from each other. Top
